Something about this local mod-rock trio sticks with us when most of the others blur
together. Could be the way the singer's woozy, smeary emotional pleas meet up with the band's adept free-range pop-rockism in a way that brings to mind prime Afghan Whigs or maybe Tommy Keene on a bender.
BALTIMORE CITY PAPER
Throughout the 10-song self-titled debut lies a melodic manifestation of germinating
choruses and guitars whose amplifiers sit someplace between an arena and a garage, blending a big sound with a raw quality. With songs like these, it's almost obscene not to give Vulgaria a listen.
ALTAR NATIVE (MIAMI)
Seattle meets London... And while you're at it, toss in a bit of Replacements, with a hint of
Cracker. The end result is a power pop disk that grows with repeated listenings... the boys pull it off, and do it well.
NY ROCK (NEW YORK)
Rock 'n Roll, baby... Piping hot and refreshing to a touch.
NOT LAME RECORDINGS
...songs of uncommon complexity and depth. This is not yer ordinary pop band...
Truly something special.
AIDING & ABETTING (DURHAM, NC)
They sound like Paul (The Replacements') Westerberg, only much better than
Westerberg has sounded in years.
MOBTOWN SHANK (BALTIMORE, MD)
